What is a McKenzie Friend?

A McKenzie Friend supports parents who are representing themselves in family court. They can help you prepare your case, organise documents, take notes, and offer quiet guidance during hearings. While a McKenzie Friend cannot speak directly to the court unless given permission by the judge, they play a vital role in helping you feel informed, prepared, and supported throughout your case.

Who provides the parenting assessments?

Parenting assessments at Fresh4Families are undertaken by Fabian Kellman, a Registered Social Worker since 2016. Fabian has extensive experience working across both public (local authority) and private settings, specialising in parenting capacity assessments, child and family work, and court-directed evaluations. Each assessment is independent, evidence-based, and delivered with professionalism, fairness, and compassion.
